Jeonju is a unique city with a 1300 years history. Here you will find the legacy of our ancestors represented by the rich tradition and cultural heritage, co-existing peacefully with the modern day cutting edge technology. Jeonju houses the largest colony of Han-oak (traditional Korean style houses) in Korea, consisting of over 900 such houses, vividly showing how the people lived in the past and how their lives are woven into everyday life, even today. You can experience Korea’s rich cultural legacy still alive and breathing among us.
The recent incorporation of five dynamic growth industries in Jeonju— bio-medicine, automotive parts manufacturing, multimedia and film, Korean traditional fashion, and eco-tourism-- quickly raised the city's profile to that of modern city equipped with state of the art technologies, promising a bright future for the next millenium.
Jeonju is also blessed with beautiful natural surroundings. To the west are the spacious and fertile fields of the Honam Plains. In the East and South one can find lush mountains, running with clean waters under clear skies. It’s well-suited to the name Jeonju (literally it means "perfect town".)
